Sales Metrics I Actually Care About (That Have Nothing to Do with Numbers)

Leaderboards, rankings, GCI, total sales volume. These are the ways salespeople are measured. Whether it’s you or someone else doing it, you’re constantly being compared.

And look, I enjoy eating, so yes, I do care about the numbers a little, because I need to make money.

But there are other metrics I care about much more.

And when I’m doing well with those, I trust the rest will follow.

How many of my current clients would I want ten more just like them?

When that number is high, I know I’m aligned. I’m working with people who energize me, not drain me.

How often do I hear

“Thanks for the chat. I feel so much better now.”

That tells me I’m bringing value beyond just being good at my job.

How often do I get a random text from an old client saying

“Hi, I thought of you.”

That tells me I’m building relationships that last.

You see, when you start measuring the things that actually matter, you realize your value isn’t just a number.

It never was. And it never will be.
