We Signed Up for Excitement. Well...We Got It.

I’ve been in sales since college. I remember telling someone in my 20s what I did, and they said: “That’s like a risky job… without too much risk.” I was confused. They said, “It’s exciting.” And I remember thinking, is cold calling and getting kicked out of buildings exciting? I guess, compared to sitting at a desk all day, it was.

When I think about who’s drawn to sales, it’s usually the same type of person.

Outgoing, curious, and a little bit of a risk-taker. Depending on the role, that risk only goes up. Going from salary + commission to 100% commission? That’ll wake you up real fast.

When everything feels like it's going off the rails, I sometimes have to laugh. This is exactly what I signed up for. Not the smooth, easy deals. The problem-solving, the pressure. The “how do we make this work?” moments. The things that would make most people run in the other direction. And if I’m being honest…that's the part I actually enjoy, you know, once I overcome them.

Everything else starts to feel a little boring after a while. So when things are going sideways, and it feels like nothing is working…It’s a good reminder: this isn’t the exception. It's the job.

We signed up for excitement. Well, here it is.
